Death Is Not Dying: A Faith That Saves

Dearest brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus,
Thank you so much for your prayers and notes/comments of encouragement. You all truly bless my heart and I remember you in my prayers, giving much thanks to the Lord for you! Instead of giving you an update on me, I thought it would be better to share something more important.
Meet Rachel Barkey.
Rachel has enjoyed many of the best things life has to offer.
As a wife to Neil for 10 years and mother to two children, she has both loved and been loved exceptionally well.
As a businesswoman, an entrepreneur, and a writer she has known the joy of investing her life in something bigger than herself and the thrill of rising to a challenge.
As a friend and mentor she has profoundly influenced many and been deeply transformed herself through the words, hearts and lives of those she loves.
Most precious to Rachel has been the joy of discovering daily the beauty of her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A journey that started in her childhood, gained momentum as a student at university, and has been the source of strength, courage, and hope in her five-year battle with cancer.
Rachel lives in Vancouver, Canada, attends Westside Church and, among other things, enjoys good friends, good food, good wine, March Madness, Sunday afternoons watching NFL football, warm climates, water, and reading good books.

On March 4, 2009, Rachel had an opportunity to share about her hope in the midst of terminal cancer. What began as a small talk to her church women’s group became an event attended by over 600 women and was an experience that left many with a desire to discover more about Rachel’s journey and faith.

One of the most memorable things our precious sister Rachel shares with us:
And Rachel is right, we are all dying. Maybe not of cancer, but death will come to all of us. With this in mind, it is wise that we spend every breath God has given us considering the things that have eternal impact rather than temporal.
My darling husband found this video and shared it with me. He thought it would greatly encourage me. He was more than right!
Although Rachel is three years younger than me, I really hope I can be like her when I grow up. :-)

"Cancer does not define me. Neither does being a wife or a mother. All these things are part of who I am but they do not define me. What defines me is my relationship with Jesus."

1 Shared Truth in Love:
How interesting. I was going to tell you in your latest post that I want to be like YOU when I grow up. ((hugs))
I was reading through past posts that I've missed and I just couldn't wait any longer to say it. I see you are in the hospital now and know that I am praying.
